🌿 Invasive Plant Alert – Community Meeting at The Old Schoolhouse! 🌿
You might’ve noticed a beautiful but troublesome visitor spreading through our local landscape — rhododendron ponticum. While its purple flowers might look lovely, this invasive species is smothering native plants and threatening our environment.
To help tackle the problem, the Wester Loch Ewe Community Council is hosting a community meeting here at The Old Schoolhouse, Inverasdale, on Thursday 1st May at 7:30pm.
We’ll be joined by Rob Dewar, Invasive Non-Native Species Project Officer with the National Trust for Scotland, who will explain why controlling this species is so important and the different ways we can do it. After a short presentation, there’ll be a Q&A and discussion about possible next steps — depending on support from the community.
📍The current focus is on the Inverasdale area (from Naast to Cove), but anyone from the wider community is very welcome to attend.
Please come along if you can — your support will help shape what happens next. And yes, there’ll be tea and biscuits! ☕🍪
