We’re honoured to host a special VE Day 80 exhibition here at The Old Schoolhouse, featuring striking watercolours by Arctic Convoy veteran Jack Shirley. These paintings, inspired by his wartime sketches aboard HMS Alnwick Castle, offer a powerful glimpse into life at sea during the convoys. The works are kindly loaned by Jack’s son, Patrick, who recently visited us from Hertfordshire.
